Bundesliga Team of the Week: Lewandowski & Thiago star

Bundesliga Team of the Week: Lewandowski & Thiago star

The Bayern pair put in fine displays as Pep Guardiola’s side strode towards the Bundesliga title with a 3-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt

Bet

The Bundesliga season is drawing to a close and Bayern Munich strengthened their grip on the league title with a 3-0 home win over Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday.

Elsewhere, Wolfsburg confimed their Champions League return by beating stricken Hamburg but Borussia Dortmund’s hopes of qualifying for Europe are fading following a 3-0 loss to Borussia Monchengladbach.

Goal‘s Team of the Week starts with Freiburg keeper Roman Burki, who has now gone 276 minutes without conceding following the 0-0 draw with Schalke, during which he made an impressive save to deny Max Meyer.

Koln’s Jonas Hector put in an impressive wing-back performance for his side in a thrilling 3-2 win over Hoffenheim, scoring the clincher, Leverkusen’s Tin Jedvaj was calm and assured at the heart of defence and Oscar Wendt got Gladbach off to a flying start with a goal inside the first minute against Dortmund.

Joshua Guilavogui was on top form for Wolfsburg in the 2-0 win over Hamburg, scoring his first goal for the club, while Granit Xhaka pulled the strings in midfield for Gladbach. Thiago Alcantara made an impressive return to the starting line-up for Bayern, starting the move that led to the opening goal and Patrick Herrmann terrorised the Dortmund defence with his incisive dribbling and played a big role in Raffael’s goal.

Son Heung-Min was a constant source of danger for Leverkusen, Robert Lewandowski put in his best performance for Bayern yet with two goals against Frankfurt and Daniel Ginczek scored twice to give Stuttgart an all-important win over Werder Bremen.
